To advance our mission of achieving equality that is inclusive of sexual orientation, gender identity and race, the Bastian Foundation requires all organizations seeking funding to have Equal Employment Opportunity policies that include protection based on:
- Gender identification (an individual's internal sense of one's own gender)
- Sexual orientation (determined by whom an individual is sexually attracted to and also has the potential for loving)
- All other categories protected by applicable federal and local laws.
We view this requirement as another tool we can use, in addition to grant making, that can help bring about social change.
